Abstract

Salat which was ordained and practiced by His Prophet (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him and his house hold) acts as act of worship. This study is going to be treated in the following sub-headings: meaning of Salat, rules of its obligation, its timing, obligatory acts of prayer. Furthermore, the paper explains the Sunnah acts of prayer, desirable acts of prayer, detestable acts of prayer, things that vitiate prayer, types of Salat, the spiritual, social and health benefit of Salat and lastly the paper concluded.
